The world of Girlfriends felt more realistic to me than Sex and the City, but it also explored their intimacy, careers and family in a similar way. Girlfriendsįor the first time, we saw Black women from various backgrounds living their best lives onscreen. Despite the outcome or controversy, Chapelle is one of the only comedians I’ve witnessed in my lifetime paint the picture of our reality perfectly. Dave Chapelle is a National Treasure, who must be protected at all costs. I’m obviously a fan of sketch comedy shows, but this one created moments that live on forever.

Each moment throughout the series feels real to my upbringing and the writers couple humor and drama well. Though my hometown has films inspired by the culture like the cult classic ATL, Atlanta is a series that anyone can relate to (whether you’re from the city or not). The writing, comedic timing and improvisation skills in this show sum up my humor perfectly. It’s something so special about a simple plot like “office activities” met with outlandish characters that brings me so much joy. Also, THE WAYANS family is simply top tier talent. It showcased the talents of some of my favorite comedians, actors, dancers and musicians, and catapulted their careers to new heights. This show paved the way for a true variety show onscreen.

The trend inspired our staff to invite readers inside of our television sets in this special “10 Shows To Know Our Staff” list. Nonetheless, our team stepped up to the challenge. Billy's dad tells all of the kids and on the day of Jordan's party, no one shows up.The trend eventually led to other lists like “10 Songs To Know Me” and “10 Books To Know Me.” These lists proved to be quite challenging, because there are thousands to choose from. Upset because Jordan was getting a better party then she did, she tells Billy's dad the surprise is an alien. Billy's dad calls Bernie to talk about this but Bryanna answers the phone. The kids really want to know what the surprise is, so they plan on going to Jordan's party. Bernie calls Billy's dad to try and work something out but Billy's dad is not very cooperative.īernie hires a party planner and they decide to have an alien birthday party with a surprise at the end. Since Billy's birthday theme was more interesting, the kids tell Jordan they will not be going to his party. Jordan gets excited and as he hands out the invitations at school, finds out another boy, Billy, is having a birthday party on the same day. He decides to give Jordan a very special 10th birthday. He can't believe his mom never gave him one. Bernie trips on pieces of it, trying to put the fire outīernie finds out Jordan has never had a birthday party. He changes the roof, throws in some plastic people, and sets it on fire, laughing hysterically. Meanwhile, Jordan's project turns out great, but Bernie doesn't know that Jordan has decided to make a few extra things.
It goes over so well that Vanessa asks Bernie to compete in the school talent show, to help along her campaign.
Vanessa also asks Bernie to help her on her campaign, so Bernie appears as many characters in her video of why she should be allected. So Bernie decides to help Jordan on his next project, which turns out to be a VERY detailed model of an old building, but Bernie does all the work. Jordan is upset when he puts his time into making a dung beetle project, but ends up only getting the huge pile of dung done.
They are shocked to find that her teacher likes her, and thinks she is not being challenged enough, so he suggests she run for class president. Bernie and Wanda attend Vanessa's parent night at her school.
